dad life

‘People look at me and my 4 kids and assume I’m just giving mom some ‘kid-free’ time. I just laugh.’: Man becomes full-time dad after emotional divorce, realizes kids need ‘all of him’

“I began to get random phone calls about my wife’s nighttime activities. ‘She’s my soul mate. She’ll come around,’ I’d tell myself. She started hinting at divorce, but I’d stop the conversation dead in its tracks. Then, she stopped showing up. The defining moment for me was seeing all of my kids asleep at the front door, hoping to see their mom if she happened to come home that night. My babies needed me to be strong for them.”

‘He’s been saving his pocket change. I thought nothing of it ’til I came home to this.’: Daughter finds pill bottle, instantly ‘bursts into tears’ thanks to Dad’s act of kindness despite losing his job

“He was laid off from his job. He truly loved being able to go to work and misses all the people. He’s always lived paycheck to paycheck, but we always had a roof over our head, food on the table, and faith we’d be okay. ‘I love you, it’s going to be okay. Daddy’s going to be okay.’ He wasn’t worried about himself, he just wanted to make sure I knew he loved me.”

‘Am I dead?! Am I dreaming?! Am I a vampire?!’ She starts really worrying. ‘Here, let me try again.’: Husband hilariously pranks wife in spooky photo shoot, ‘My wife’s missing from these Polaroids’

“I sit next to her. ‘Let’s take a picture together…’ So we touch noses, and I take the picture. SHE WASN’T IN IT. ‘That’s super weird, we were touching noses. How did you miss me!?,’ she says. ‘There isn’t a ‘remove wife from this photo’ option on a Polaroid, Sarah! How would I be doing this?!’”

‘He read the paper, ‘You are a dad.’ I’ve never heard his voice that reach that note.’: Wife surprises shocked husband with pregnancy news, he shouts ‘Really?! This is the best day ever!’

“I text him: ‘I’m not doing well. Come home now.’ He will because I have a fractured back! He calls. I’m still crying happy tears, but they sound sad when I say: ‘I need you home.’ Not lying. Those are true statements. He is coming straight home. Success! Praise the Lord for this fractured back. I couldn’t believe that a baby survived my fall, the pain killers, the almost X-ray fiasco, and yet it had.”

‘There is no medication to help his PTSD like having his son take our last name.’: Thrilled toddler yells ‘Dad!’ after adoption decree is announced

“Tyler and I met before his deployment to Afghanistan. We knew it would be hard, but we also knew it would strengthen our relationship. He was deployed for 9 months, and one month after he got home, he proposed. We tried for years to get pregnant but came to realize it wasn’t going to happen. Because of the health battles we’ve both been given, we weren’t the type of people to just ‘throw in the towel’ and let our dreams of becoming parents get shattered.”
